In “Connected, but alone” TED talk,
Sherry Turkle explains the effects that technology is having on people’s
relationships, and lives. The things we do with our mobile devices now, we of
never did years ago. People are so caught up with having control of where there
attention is, always being heard, and never being alone that it’s consuming
having conversations and interaction with each other. We expect more from our
devices today than we do from each other. It’s easier to text someone or email them,
because you can have time to think of a response, a lot of people “rather text
than talk”. People like the feeling of how they can be elsewhere but also in
real time. Like people in class, business meetings, and even at work are
constantly are on their Facebook, emails, etc. Being alone together but also
elsewhere.
